rac3r Following his popular 2010 version of Lakeside Park, Mike Cantwell is working on bringing another Australian racing venue to rFactor – Queensland Raceway.
Below are first previews of the 3.2 kilometer track that is located near Brisbane on Australia’s east coast. The track opened in 1999 and plays host to numerous national series, including Australia’s very popular V8 Supercars series. It features a distinctive six-corner layout, earning it the nickname “The paperclip”.
January 21st, 2011 rac3r EA has released a new video trailer of Slightly Mad Studios’ upcoming Need for Speed Shift 2 title.
The new trailer shows a few very immersive seconds of gameplay footage of a GT night race at Bathurst and announces new release dates for the title.
As reported a week ago, EA announced March 10 as European release date for Shift 2. This date has been changed, the title will now be released on March 24 & 25 in Europe and March 29 in North America. Also available are two new preview shots as you can see below.
Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed will include the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship & GT3 European Championship among lots of other racing content, new features include a new helmet camera, night racing and more realistic physics. The second Shift title will be available for the PC, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3.
January 21st, 2011 rac3r Team HistorX has released new previews of their Historic GT & Touring Car 2.0 mod for rFactor, showing us first on-track shots of the widebody version of the legendary Alpine A110.
Using GT Legends as a base, the Historic GT & Touring Car mod for rFactor proved to be one of the most popular releases for the simulation. The second version of the mod will be bringing many popular racing cars from the past to rFactor, including the Ferrari 330, the Porsche 904, the Aston Martin DB4 and many others.
January 21st, 2011 rac3r Following the new video trailer released earlier today, new gameplay footage of Slightly Mad Studios’ Need for Speed Shift 2 has surfaced.
Filmed at the Detroit Auto Show, the video below shows some racing action from cockpit view including a spin. It’s unknown which driving assists have been used, exhibition demos like this one rarely allow to drive without any assists though.

A quick couple of laps on Black Bean’s forthcoming SBK 2011, these are using the full simulation model and as ever will take some time to master. The handling is still being refined but coming along nicely, always room for improvement but this looks to be on course as the best 2 wheel experience on console.

50,000 Players Register for US GT AcademyGTPlanet Quote
It’s been a long time coming, but GT Academy finally arrived in the United States last month to, apparently, a very warm reception. According to the PlayStation Blog, over 50,000 playershave registered since it kicked off just one month ago.
