The replica is covered with buttons, switches, and dials, as well as two F1-style “push and pull” metal shifters. It’s designed as a replacement wheel for the company’s existing T500 RS racing system featuring 1,080-degree rotation, powerful force-feedback and a heavy-duty metal footrest.

The wheel is aimed at hard core F1-sim racers, and is closely modelled on the actual steering wheel used in the Ferrari F1 cars. It provides a realistic simulation when combined with the Thrust Master T500 RS system and your PC computer or Playstation.

The Ferrari F1 Wheel add-on will be launched in early October and will cost around $199. It works with the T500 RS System, which is available for $499.99 at Overstock.com.

rFactor 2 – The New Website

rFactor 2 – The New Website : Image Space Incorporated has relaunched its rFactor.net website to include lots of info on their upcoming rFactor 2 simulation.

Even though the website dosen’t contain any material that hasn’t been already revealed here, the relaunch is great news as it’s part of the title’s progress of getting closer to being released.

The website also reconfirms the 2011 release that has first been given out on Facebook back in April, the website officially lists the title’s release as “TBA 2011″.

rFactor 2 will introduce various improvements to the modding-friendly simulation including weather, driver animations and a refined graphics engine alongside plenty of current and historic motor racing content.

Comparison: Simbin vs. Virtua_LM

Comparison: Simbin vs. Virtua_LM: MotoGamesTV has put together a very interesting comparison video, pairing up footage of Virtua_LM’s Mid Ohio Sports Car Course against Simbin’s Mid Ohio that was recently released as part of the GT Power Pack.

Originally released for rFactor in 2008, Mid Ohio by Virtua_LM is widely considered to be the finest community-created track – Can it keep up with work from a professional studio like Simbin? Watch the video below and decide which version you prefer!

Opened in 1962, the 3.8 kilometer Mid Ohio Sports Car Course has seen its share of sports car history, hosting notable Group C, Camel GT, Grand Am and American Le Mans Series races just to name a few. Even open wheelers are no strangers to the track as the CART championship and the IRL have hosted races at Mid-Ohio.

rFactor 2 release date confirmed for 2011

Release of rFactor 2 Confirmed for 2011 : Image Space Incorporated has semi-officially confirmed that their much-anticipated rFactor 2 simulation is planned to be released this year. ISI replied to a release-date question on Facebook by VirtualR reader Eduardo Pimentel, confirming that the company is planning to have the title out within the next seven months.

Release of rFactor 2 Confirmed in 2011

This is the closest to an official release date we´ve gotten so far, last year the official word was that the studio was trying to have the title out by the end of 2010 – A goal that was clearly missed as rFactor 2 is still heavily in development five months later.

Ferrari Virtual Academy Winners in Fiorano

Ferrari Virtual Academy Winners in Fiorano:

Ferrari has released a bunch of videos, allowing us to follow Italians David Greco and Matteo Vecchioni, Spaniard Jon Tanko, German Martin Kronke and Portugal’s Jao Nunes all the way from the airport to the medical checks, the simulator and finally to driving the real racing machine.

The videos are partly narrated in Italian, part of the interviews with the winning drivers are in English though. Like most sim racers that got to try out a real race car, the drivers emphasize on the difference between driving a virtual car and hitting a real track, they also praise the accuracy of the laser-scanned track though.
